How we work
Every engagement starts with the site as a whole, is priced before work begins and is run by one principal from start to finish.
From first call to consent
A confidential discussion
You tell us about the site, its history and what you need from it. Nothing is recorded in a web form and nothing is shared without your agreement.
Site strategy and a fixed fee
We establish what the site can become, the consents it needs, the programme and the risks. You receive a written strategy and a fixed fee for delivering it.
One team, assembled around the site
We bring in the specialists the strategy calls for, from planning and permitting to ecology, ground investigation, title and grid, and manage them on your behalf.
Consents, permits and connections
We prepare and submit the applications, negotiate with the planning authority, environmental regulator and network operator, and deal with objections and conditions.
Delivery and handover
We see the consents through to implementation, discharge the conditions and hand over a site that can be built, operated, financed or sold.

images/approach.jpgHow the model compares
| Independent consultants | Large multidisciplinary firm | Suton Partners | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Point of contact | Several, managed by you | One per discipline | One, for the whole site |
| Coordination | Your time | Internal, charged to you | Included |
| Fee basis | Several fees, often time-based | Time-based, with a premium | Fixed |
| Strategy for the site as a whole | Nobody owns it | Split across departments | Where every engagement starts |
Why a fixed fee
Consenting a complex site involves many disciplines, and time-based fees across several of them make the total cost hard to predict. Owners under pressure, lenders in possession and funds working to an investment case need that figure before they commit.
We price the work once the site strategy is settled. The fee covers the scope set out in the strategy, and anything outside it is agreed in writing before it is done.
Discretion
Many of our clients are dealing with sites they would rather not discuss publicly: assets in distress, enforcement or remediation notices, or acquisitions not yet announced. We do not name clients or sites without permission, and our track record is published in anonymised form for the same reason.
